Fire Alarm Installation

Professional fire alarm design, installation and maintenance for homes and businesses. BS 5839 compliant conventional, addressable and wireless systems by qualified engineers.

A properly designed and installed fire alarm system is the first line of defence against the devastating impact of fire at any property. Modern fire alarm systems do far more than make a noise — they identify exactly where a fire has started, trigger automatic responses such as AOV smoke ventilation systems, alert emergency services and help ensure safe evacuation. All our fire alarm installations are designed to BS 5839 by qualified engineers. For local installation across Kent see our fire alarms Kent page, or for Sheerness our fire alarms Sheerness page.

Types of fire alarm systems

Conventional fire alarm systems divide a building into detection zones. When a detector activates, the panel identifies which zone — ideal for smaller buildings where pinpointing the exact detector is not critical. Simple, reliable and cost-effective for shops, small offices and domestic premises.

Addressable fire alarm systems identify exactly which detector or call point has activated, giving precise location information to evacuating occupants and the fire service. Essential for larger or more complex buildings — offices, schools, hotels, care homes and multi-storey premises. Addressable systems also support more sophisticated cause-and-effect programming, automatically triggering AOV smoke ventilation or door release systems on activation.

Wireless fire alarm systems require no cable runs between detectors and the control panel, making them ideal for listed buildings, occupied commercial premises and properties where wiring would be impractical or unacceptably disruptive.

Commercial fire alarm installation

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, all non-domestic premises must have appropriate fire detection. Our qualified engineers carry out full site risk assessments and design commercial fire alarm systems to BS 5839 Part 1 — from a small office system to a multi-floor commercial building installation. We also provide BS 5839 fire alarm maintenance contracts for all commercial premises, ensuring ongoing compliance. Businesses should also consider their wider fire safety obligations including emergency lighting and fire doors.

Residential fire alarm installation

Domestic fire alarm systems to BS 5839 Part 6 protect lives in the home. We install mains-interlinked smoke detectors, heat detectors and carbon monoxide detectors — providing the earliest possible warning in the event of fire. Blocks of flats and HMOs have specific requirements for both fire alarms and associated fire door installations.

Fire alarm servicing and maintenance

BS 5839 requires commercial fire alarm systems to be serviced at least twice per year. We offer maintenance contracts covering six-monthly servicing, annual BS 5839 certification, priority call-out and 24/7 fault response — keeping your system compliant and fully operational.
